The Thin Red Line, starring Sean Penn, Adrien Brody, James Caviezel,
Ben Chaplin, and Nick Nolte is the story of a group of young soldiers who
are brought in as a relief for the battle-weary Marine units during the battle
of Guadalcanal. The horrors of war forms the soldiers into a tight-knit
group, their emotions develop into bonds of love and even family.

Patton, starring George C. Scott, Karl Malden, Stephen Young, Michael
Strong, and Carey Loftin tells the tale of General George S. Patton,
famous tank commander of World War II. The film begins with Patton's
career in North Africa and progresses through the invasion of Germany and
the fall of the Third Reich.
Released in 1970, rated PG.
The Longest Day, starring Eddie Albert, Paul Anka, Arletty, Jean-Louis
Barrault, and Richard Beymer tells story of the D-Day invasion of
Normandy in WWII. Dozens of characters help to weave the story of five
separate invasion points that made up the operation.
Released in 1962, rated G.
Tora! Tora! Tora!, starring Martin Balsam, Sô Yamamura, Joseph
Cotten, Tatsuya Mihashi, and E.G. Marshall takes place in 1941 when the
Japanese are at odds with the United States on a number of issues. In the
case of diplomacy failing, the Japanese military are hatching plans for a
surprise air attack on the U.S. base at Pearl Harbour. American
intelligence is breaking the Japanese diplomatic messages but few
high-ups are prepared to believe that an attack is likely, let alone where or
how it might come.
